Monthly Bird Walk

The monthly bird walk is back on the last Saturday of every month! Bring your eyes, ears and a comfortable pair of hiking boots. Our expert volunteer birder from the Delaware Ornithological Society will lead the group, providing tips and advice to all interested bird watchers.

Morning Patrol

Over 100 years ago, the surfmen of the Indian River Life-Saving Station went on regular beach patrols, scanning the waters for ships in distress. After hours of walking on the beach, often in harsh conditions, they would return to the station and end their patrol with a hot cup of coffee. Start your day like a surfman and venture out on a 1-mile beach patrol with a park interpreter. Coffee will be served in the museum at the conclusion of the walk. Online program registration ends 24 hours before the program. $5 per person!

Winter Hiking Series #2

Stay motivated to get outside and hike this winter! Join a naturalist twice a month on a group hike at Killens Pond State Park. Hikes will begin short and get progressively longer as the year goes on (0.5 - 3.1 miles). This week's hike will be 0.8 mile long and meet at the sports complex parking lot. Interpretive Bike Ride

Warm up on a cold winter day via this one-hour bike ride and exploration of our park. Each month, join this free ride to learn about a different trail and bit of park history, flora and fauna. January: Yorklyn History Tour. Bike two miles with a park interpreter, from the historic Marshall paper mill down to the old historic post office and site of the old Yorklyn Hotel.
